KISSIMMEE, Fla., May 21, 2015 – The Kissimmee City Commission on May 19 appointed Kathleen Thacker to a second five-year term on the Kissimmee Utility Authority board of directors, effective October 1. She is a current member of the board.
Thacker will be sworn in at the board’s October meeting and serve until September 30, 2020.
Thacker was one of eight applicants for the board position, and one of three finalists interviewed by the commission.
The utility’s five-member board of directors sets policy direction for the utility. Specifically, the board approves annual budgets, sets rates and approves major purchases. The board also directs a general manager who is responsible for day-to-day operations of the utility.
Thacker is a retired 30-year employee of Orange County Public Schools and holds degrees from Florida State University and Western Carolina University. She has resided in Kissimmee for nearly 13 years.
