KISSIMMEE, Fla., January 9, 2007 – Kissimmee residents generously contributed $48,000 in 2006 to Kissimmee Utility Authority’s Good Neighbor Energy Fund, which provides assistance to families who need help paying their monthly electric bill.
The Good Neighbor Energy Fund is maintained through voluntary contributions from customers and employees of KUA, helping people in crisis throughout Osceola County. In 2006, KUA and its customers raised $48,000 including a $27,000 dollar-for-dollar matching contribution from the utility.
Since 1991, more than $500,000 has been raised to help thousands of families in financial crisis pay their electric bills.
KUA works with the Osceola County Council on Aging to distribute 100 percent of the money donated to the fund.
