Kissimmee City Commission Confirms Cumbie to KUA Board

KISSIMMEE, Fla., May 21, 2008 – The Kissimmee City Commission on Tuesday voted unanimously to confirm the appointment of attorney Fred Cumbie to a second term on the Kissimmee Utility Authority board of directors, effective October 1.

Cumbie is president of the Kissimmee law firm Overstreet Miles Ritch & Cumbie, P.A. He holds degrees from Florida State University College of Law and University of South Florida. Cumbie is a 36-year resident of Osceola County and past president of the Osceola County Council on Aging.

Cumbie will be sworn in at the board’s October meeting and serve until September 30, 2013.

The five-member board is made up of utility customers who reside both inside and outside Kissimmee city limits. The board sets policy direction, approves annual budgets, sets rates and approves major purchases. The board also directs a general manager who is responsible for day-to-day operations of the utility.

Founded in 1901, KUA (www.kua.com) is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric and telecommunication services to 170,000 residents in five Central Florida counties.
