Kissimmee City Commission Confirms Hart to KUA Board

KISSIMMEE, Fla., May 31, 5:00 p.m. – The Kissimmee City Commission on Tuesday voted unanimously to confirm the appointment of Bill Hart to a second term on the Kissimmee Utility Authority board of directors, effective October 1.

Hart is vice president of surveying and engineering firm Franklin Hart and Reid and a Kissimmee resident since 1975. He holds a master’s degree in organizational management from the University of Phoenix, and currently serves as secretary on the utility board.

Hart will be sworn in at the board’s October meeting and serve until September 30, 2011.

The five-member board is made up of utility customers who reside both inside and outside Kissimmee city limits. The board sets policy direction, approves annual budgets, sets rates and approves major purchases. The board also directs a general manager who is responsible for day-to-day operations of the utility.

Founded in 1901, KUA (www.kua.com) is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric and telecommunication services to 170,000 residents in five Central Florida counties.
