KISSIMMEE, Fla., March 8, 2007 – The Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) board of directors on Wednesday approved the purchase of a 6.1-acre track from Osceola Development Trust for $1.7 million.

The utility will use 1.6 acres of the property to construct a new electric substation. The remaining 4.5 acres will be used as an easement for a corresponding transmission line.

The property is located north of Osceola Parkway and east of S.R. 535.

The substation, scheduled to be operational in 2011, will provide added electric reliability and meet growing demand for electricity in Kissimmee.

Founded in 1901, KUA (www.kua.com) is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric and telecommunication services to 170,000 residents in five Central Florida counties.
