KISSIMMEE, Fla., January 27, 8:30 a.m. – The Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) board of directors on Monday approved a $481,473 construction contract with Kissimmee-based Terry’s Electric, Inc. for the upgrade of an electric substation in Osceola County.

The contract includes replacement of two existing 69/13.2 kV transformers and 13.2 kV transformer low side breakers at the utility’s Buenaventura Lakes substation, located adjacent to Florida’s Turnpike and Osceola Parkway. The project scope also includes the addition of new transformer protection panels.

The substation upgrades are expected to increase service reliability for utility customers living in Buenaventura Lakes.

Construction on the substation will begin in February 2005 with completion expected in June.

Founded in 1901, KUA is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric, water, and telecommunication services to 170,000 residents in five Central Florida counties.
