KUA Captures 3 National Publication Awards

KISSIMMEE, Fla., July 3, 10:30 am — The Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) has received three national awards in the prestigious APEX 2001 Awards for Publication Excellence competition.

KUA received awards of excellence for its 2001 Calendar of Electrical Safety and its effective crisis communications response to a 1999 burglary of $250,000 in utility payments. KUA.net, the Internet division of KUA, received an award of excellence in the Web site design category for its development of the online home of the Orlando Area Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association.

KUA’s entries were chosen from 5,100 entries received from government, private corporations and nonprofit organizations throughout the United States and Canada. Other notable winners include American Greetings, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, ExxonMobil, FedEx, Kraft Foods, NASA, Publix Super Markets, and Verizon Communications.

APEX Awards – headquartered in Springfield, Virginia – are based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content and the ability to achieve overall excellence in communication.

KUA is Florida’s 7th largest community-owned utility serving 53,000 electric, water and Internet customers in four Central Florida counties. KUA celebrates its 100th year of serving the community in 2001.
