KISSIMMEE, Fla., April 21, 10:30 am – Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) is one of just six utilities in the U.S. — and the only in Florida — to be honored with a Crystal Award of Excellence in this year’s international Communicator Awards. In addition to receiving a Crystal Award, KUA was honored with two Awards of Distinction and one Honorable Mention.
The Communicator Awards is an international awards program that recognizes outstanding work in the communications field. Entries are judged by industry professionals who look for companies and individuals whose talent exceeds a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry. There were 3,730 entries received from throughout the United States and several foreign countries in this year’s competition.
The Crystal Award of Excellence honored KUA’s 2002 Osceola Hurricane Guide. Awards of Distinction were presented to the utility for its Cane Island Power Park informational brochure and its monthly employee newsletter, Power Line. An Honorable Mention award was presented to KUA’s internet subsidiary, KUA.net, for its design of the website of the Orlando Area Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association.
KUA has earned 133 local, state, national and international communication awards for public relations programs, events and publications since 1995.
KUA is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility serving 58,000 electric, water and internet customers in five Central Florida counties.
