The Communicator Awards is a national awards program that recognizes outstanding work in the communications field. Entries are judged by industry professionals who look for companies and individuals whose talent exceeds a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry. There were 3,344 entries received from throughout the United States and several foreign countries in this year’s competition.

The Crystal Award of Excellence honored the printed invitation for the Hansel whistle dedication held last October. Awards of Distinction were presented to KUA for its 2000 Osceola Hurricane Guide (a partnership with the Orlando Utilities Commission) and its monthly employee newsletter, Power Line. KUA’s 2001 Calendar of Electrical Safety and its Cane Island power plant facility map both earned Honorable Mentions from the judges.

KUA is Florida’s 7th largest municipally-owned utility serving 53,000 electric, water and Internet customers in four Central Florida counties. KUA celebrates its 100th year of serving the community in 2001.
