The Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) received six awards for its entries in the 2001 Image Awards – an annual competition sponsored by the Orlando Area Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association.

The Image Awards competition is conducted annually to recognize outstanding local public relations programs and to encourage and promote the development of excellence in internal and external communications.

KUA was awarded 3 Image Awards and 3 Judges’ Awards at the April 26 banquet held at the Radisson Plaza Hotel in Orlando.

In the institutional category, KUA received both an Image and Judges’ Award for its image revitalization of the Roy E. Hansel power plant, including public education and tours, a giant painted mural, and the restoration of a historic steam whistle.

In the still photography category, KUA received a Judges’ Award for its 15th anniversary employee photo.

In the annual report category, KUA received an Image Award for its 2000 annual report.

In the poster and calendar category, KUA received both an Image and Judges’ Award for its 2001 Calendar of Electrical Safety.

Image Awards are the highest level of awards presented in a particular category, and Judges’ Awards recognize projects that receive maximum results using a minimum budget.

The entries will now advance to the state level of competition. Winners will be announced in July in Jacksonville.

KUA is Florida‘s 7th largest municipally-owned utility serving 53,000 electric, water and Internet customers in four Central Florida counties. KUA celebrates its 100th year of serving the community in 2001.
