KISSIMMEE, Fla., September 6, 2:30 p.m. – Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) crews worked Monday restoring power outages caused by Hurricane Frances. At the peak of the storm at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, more than 21,100 KUA customers were without electricity. By 2:30 p.m. Monday, crews had restored electric service to approximately 98 percent of its 58,000 customers in Osceola County.

About 1,431 customers remain without power Monday afternoon. These are small, isolated outages throughout Osceola County.

The number of outages could rise on Monday as residents returning home from storm evacuations report their individual outages to KUA.

Customers should call 407-933-7777 to report an outage. Customers may want to consider moving themselves and their families — especially those with special needs — to an alternate location during extended outages.

Founded in 1901, KUA (www.kua.com) is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric service to 58,000 customers in Osceola County.
