KISSIMMEE, Fla., March 24, 9:00 a.m. – Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) today dedicated a new pedestrian/bicycle pathway that provides residents with more convenient and safer access to the utility’s customer service center in Kissimmee.
The new concrete path meanders through a cluster of oak trees and links Carroll Street to the front entrance of the utility building. The pathway also provides enhanced access to a nearby LYNX bus stop.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony held this morning featured utility customers, employees and KUA president and general manager Jim Welsh as keynote speaker.
“KUA is pleased to provide a safe, new transportation option for its customers,” Welsh said at the ceremony. “This pathway is another example of how we are working to meet the needs of our community.”
Walkways and sidewalks increase pedestrian safety by separating pedestrians from vehicle traffic.
Founded in 1901, KUA is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric, water, and telecommunication services to 170,000 residents in five Central Florida counties.
