KISSIMMEE, Fla., June 22, 11:30 am — Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) has introduced a state-of-the-art automated telephone system that allows customers to conduct business with the utility in English or Spanish.

After dialing (407) 933-7777, customers enter the system and are asked to choose the language in which they prefer to conduct business. The system gives callers the ability to:
• report power outages
• receive Internet technical support
• initiate, terminate or transfer electric, water, and Internet services
• listen to a recorded job line with available employment opportunities at the utility
• request an employment application

Customers can also access this system free of charge from any Cingular Wireless cellular telephone by dialing *KUA (star-KUA).

The bilingual system also features a new confidential hotline for reporting power theft in the community. Power theft is an international problem. Billions of dollars are stolen from utilities annually. These costs are routinely passed along to customers in the form of higher rates. It is our goal to stop all power theft in Kissimmee.

KUA is Florida’s 7th largest community-owned utility serving 53,000 electric, water and Internet customers in four Central Florida counties. KUA celebrates its 100th year of serving the community on June 28.
