KISSIMMEE, Fla., November 12, 2013 – Florida Hospital has recognized Kissimmee Utility Authority as a recipient of its inaugural Healthy 100 Workplace Wellness Awards for making wellness, health and work-life balance part of the company culture.
Winners were selected by a panel of health experts and divided into three categories—gold, silver and bronze—based on the company’s wellness program outcomes. Winners had to demonstrate healthy changes in areas such as nutrition, activity, culture and/or purpose. KUA earned the bronze-level award for meeting the minimum criteria for workplace wellness by demonstrating a solid foundation for success. The recognition is awarded for a two year period.
“We are very proud to be recognized by Florida Hospital for our culture of wellness and a well-established tradition of offering employees a range of health and wellness options,” said Cindy Herrera, KUA’s assistant vice president of human resources. “Physical activity and employee wellness are important priorities at KUA and we’re committed to providing the best workplace environment possible.”
“We are very excited to recognize KUA for committing to creating a culture of wellness in their workplace,” said Lt. Gen. Mark Hertling, Florida Hospital senior vice president of Healthy 100. “Workplace wellness is a marathon, not a sprint because it’s not an initiative; it is a long-term commitment to the health of the employees. Championing the health of employees with programs that encourage a healthy lifestyle translates into increased morale, reduced absenteeism, increased employee productivity and an increase of the bottom line.”
The winners included 10 gold level awards, 19 silver level awards and 72 bronze level awards. To see the full list of winners, visit www.Healthy100Pilots.org.
