KISSIMMEE, Fla., August 26, 8:30 p.m. – Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) crews worked into the night on Thursday to restore power to customers across Osceola County. The utility reported Thursday evening that 171 customers remain without power as a result of Hurricane Charley. As Central Florida’s hardest hit utility, KUA has successfully restored electric service to 57,829 customers capable of receiving power, or 99.7 percent.

Despite earlier utility projections that all power would be restored by midnight Thursday, the remaining 171 customers will not receive utility service until Friday, August 27.

Founded in 1901, KUA (www.kua.com) is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric service to 58,000 customers in Osceola County.
