KUA Restores Power to 99 Percent of Customers

KISSIMMEE, Fla., September 28, 1:00 p.m. – Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) continues its around-the-clock effort to restore power to all customers affected by Hurricane Jeanne. At the peak of the storm at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, 34,000 customers – or 59 percent of the utility’s 58,000 customers – were without electricity. At 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, crews had restored service to 33,168 of the customers impacted by the storm.

About 832 customers, or one percent, remain without power.

KUA expects to have service restored to the remainder of its customers by midnight tonight. Rising flood waters throughout the region, however, are threatening electrical facilities in many locations and could result in loss of service.

Founded in 1901, KUA (www.kua.com) is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric service to 58,000 customers in Osceola County.
