KUA Taps VP Customer Service & Marketing

KISSIMMEE, Fla., January 13, 12:00 noon – Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) has tapped Michael E. Geraghty as the utility’s vice president of customer service and marketing.
Geraghty will manage all aspects of KUA’s customer service operation, including utility billing, meter reading, call center, cash management, collections, facility maintenance, residential and commercial energy audits and power theft.
“After an extensive nationwide search, I’m pleased to announce that we found the best candidate right here inside our own organization,” said Jim Welsh, KUA’s President & General Manager. “Mike brings a wealth of business experience and personal qualities that will help take customer service at KUA to the next level. Mike will play a vital role as we continue to build KUA into a world-class utility.”
Geraghty has managed KUA’s customer financial services division since 1989. He received a bachelor’s and master’s degree in human resource management from Barry University in Miami, Fla. In addition, Geraghty is a candidate for a PhD in industrial organizational psychology from Capella University in Minneapolis, MN, with graduation expected in December 2003.
Geraghty currently serves as the area chair of the College of Organizational Behavoir and Business Management at the Orlando campus of the University of Phoenix. He also serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Phoenix.
Geraghty will take over his new responsibilities on February 1. Current Vice President of Customer Service & Marketing, Christine Beck, who will retire on January 31, will work closely with Geraghty to ensure a smooth transition.
Founded in 1901, KUA is Florida’s 6th largest municipally-owned utility serving 58,000 electric, water and internet customers in four Central Florida counties.
