KISSIMMEE, Fla., July 3, 10:00 a.m. – Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) has been lighting the city of Kissimmee since 1901. On Tuesday evening, we’ll light the sky.

KUA is a proud sponsor of Kissimmee’s 2006 Old-Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration on July 4. The event begins at 3:00 p.m. and will culminate with a spectacular fireworks display over Lake Tohopekaliga at 9:00 p.m., sponsored by the utility.

Live entertainment will take place on three stages, featuring bluegrass, barbershop and Caribbean musical groups as well as national country recording artist Chad Brock. The event will also feature an extreme sports show, waterski show, arts and crafts, bingo and karaoke.

In addition, KUA will provide a giant children’s area with complimentary sno-kones, patriotic cookie decorating, inflatable slides and utility bucket truck rides.

“We are proud to be a sponsor of Osceola County’s largest Independence Day celebration,” said Jim Welsh, KUA president and general manager. “As an organization with deep American roots, it’s an honor to play a role in this annual celebration.”

Complete details about the event can be found online at http://www.kissimmee.org/w_dept_parks.cfm?id=412.

Event admission and parking in downtown Kissimmee is free.

Founded in 1901, KUA (www.kua.com) is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric, water and telecommunication services to 170,000 residents in five Central Florida counties.
