KISSIMMEE, Fla., August 6, 2008 – Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) captured two statewide public relations awards Tuesday evening in the 2008 Golden Image Awards, an annual competition sponsored by the Florida Public Relations Association.
The competition recognizes companies that exhibit and employ comprehensive public relations projects that meet the highest standards of excellence in four components of PR programming: research, planning, execution and evaluation.
A Golden Image Award is presented to the top-scoring entry in a respective category. An Award of Distinction is presented to entries that meet the standard of excellence set by the panel of judges.
In the institutional programs category, KUA received an Award of Distinction for its TheBigGrill.com campaign. The utility in 2007 developed a campaign to promote the availability of its large barbecue grill. The grill is available free of charge to community groups and includes complimentary rental, propane, delivery and pickup, and grill cleaning. The campaign featured a news release, printed postcard mailer and a fun, interactive Web site, www.thebiggrill.com.
In the annual report category, KUA received an Award of Distinction for its 2007 annual report. The 46-page report, titled “That’s the Way it Grows,” reviews the utility’s 2007 performance and details how the utility is meeting the demands of a growing customer base. The report is available online at http://www.kua.com/Corporate/Press/Reports/Index.aspx.
The awards were presented as part of FPRA’s 70th annual conference in Kissimmee.
KUA has earned 221 local, state, national and international communication awards for public relations programs, special events, community relations and publications since 1995.
Founded in 1901, KUA (www.kua.com) is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric and telecommunication services to 170,000 residents in five Central Florida counties.
