KISSIMMEE, Fla., June 27, 2007 – Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) on Thursday will wrap up its month-long series of neighborhood meetings designed to inform the public about hurricane preparedness and disaster response.

Thursday’s meeting (June 28) will take place at 7 p.m. at the Good Samaritan Village Community Center, 1421 Hoeger Circle in Kissimmee.

The meeting will feature representatives from KUA, Osceola County and the University of Florida’s IFAS Osceola County Extension.

The 60-minute session will be packed with helpful tips and information, including details on power restoration, generator safety, tree trimming and debris collection, and county planning for emergency response. There will also be an opportunity for the audience to ask questions.

Those residents who attend will receive a printed copy of the utility’s 2007 Osceola Hurricane Handbook. The 40-page guide includes practical tips to prepare for hurricanes and floods, plus helpful Osceola County telephone numbers, a disaster supplies checklist and a hurricane tracking chart.

Refreshments will be served and those who attend can register for a door prize.

Founded in 1901, KUA (www.kua.com) is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric and telecommunication services to 170,000 residents in five Central Florida counties.
