KISSIMMEE, Fla., March 18, 11:30 am – As a result of the raised terror alert level from yellow, or “elevated,” to orange, which means “high,” Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) has taken special steps to protect its employees and to assure the continuing reliability of electric service in Osceola County.
Utility officials will not discuss the details of its enhanced security measures, but KUA has taken the following precautions:
– KUA has locked down its Roy E. Hansel Generating Station in downtown Kissimmee and its Cane Island Power Park in Intercession City. All public tours of the power plants have been suspended and only essential utility personnel are permitted inside the facilities.
– All KUA crews are on call and ready to respond to any event that might occur.
Founded in 1901, KUA is Florida’s 6th largest community-owned utility serving 58,000 electric, water and internet customers in five Central Florida counties.
