KISSIMMEE, Fla., October 21, 5:00 p.m. – As Hurricane Wilma continues to move into the Gulf of Mexico before an expected turn towards Florida, Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) reminds its customers to register for free power restoration updates.

If Wilma should impact the KUA service territory, the utility will deliver periodic text messages with updates on power restoration progress in Kissimmee. Customers can receive the alerts through their inbox or other e-mail-enabled mobile devices like pagers and cell phones.

To sign up, customers can visit the utility’s website at www.kua.com/alerts and complete the online form. Participants can unsubscribe from the service at any time.

The e-mail address and/or telephone number provided to KUA will not be used for any purpose other than this emergency alert system.

Note: Service providers may charge for text messaging. Subscribers should refer to their service plan or contact their service provider for more information. KUA is not responsible for these charges.

Founded in 1901, KUA (www.kua.com) is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric and telecommunication services to 170,000 residents in five Central Florida counties.
