KISSIMMEE, Fla., May 30, 2012 – Kissimmee Utility Authority will send a bucket truck and several linemen to Ocala Thursday morning for the funeral of a fellow lineman who died tragically on the job last Friday.

Ocala Utility Services lineman Timothy D. “Timmy” Beard, 31, was electrocuted on May 25 while working along State Road 40 in Ocala. He was part of a crew dispatched to the scene to repair an electrical transformer.

Beard began working for the utility in 1999, and in 2009, completed a four year program to become a lineman apprentice. In 2006 and 2008, he competed alongside utility linemen from across the state in the Florida Lineman’s Competition and finished first in the state.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at First Baptist Church of Ocala, 2801 SE Maricamp Road.

Linemen and trucks from the city of Bartow, Gainesville Regional Utilities, Kissimmee Utility Authority, Lakeland Electric, city of Lake Worth and Orlando Utilities Commission will be in attendance.

Beard is survived by his wife, Julie Beard, and one daughter.
