Utility Releases 2008 Energy Conservation Calendar

KISSIMMEE, Fla., January 7, 2008 – Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) has released its 2008 calendar of energy conservation, featuring the winning entries from its annual student art contest.

The 12-month wall calendar is themed around energy conservation in the home and workplace.

A total of 1,147 artwork entries were received from 36 Osceola County elementary schools, including public, private and charter schools. KUA also received a dozen entries from homeschooled students.

The featured student artists include:

– Cypress Elementary – Kelly Blake, grade 4; Nathanael Hernandez, grade 4
– Heartland Christian Academy – Erica Christensen, grade 3; Emily Giovannini, grade 1
– Kissimmee Elementary – Brian Ferrer, grade 5; Daneishalys Santiago, grade 3; John Zambrana, grade 5
– Michigan Avenue Elementary – Jaimie Hauser, grade 2
– Narcoossee Community – Ethan Missigman, grade 3
– Partin Settlement Elementary – Kenneth Rom, grade 2
– P.M. Wells Charter Academy – Kiara Martinez, grade 4
– Homeschooled – Emily Skinner, grade 3

The calendars are being distributed free of charge at KUA’s customer service center at 1701 W. Carroll Street in Kissimmee, while supplies last.

KUA’s annual calendar project has received 40 local, state and national public relations and design awards since its inception in 1995.
