KISSIMMEE, Fla., January 2, 2015 – Kissimmee Utility Authority has released its 2015 calendar of electrical safety, featuring the winning entries from its 21st annual student art contest.
The calendars are available free of charge at KUA’s customer service center, located at 1701 W. Carroll Street in Kissimmee.
Open to Osceola County students in kindergarten through fifth grade, the contest is designed to promote electrical safety and help prevent electrical accidents. This year, a total of 775 entries were received from 23 Osceola County elementary schools, including public, private, charter and home schools.
This year’s winners are:
— Canoe Creek Charter Academy – Nicholas Thomas, grade 4
— City of Life Christian Academy – Isabella Ikram, grade 3; Veronica Melendez, grade 4
— Flora Ridge Elementary – Izabella Suarez, grade 4; Jaynise Arlene Santiago, grade 1
— Highlands Elementary – Samantha Pabon, grade 5
— Holy Redeemer Catholic School – Lean Hour Tan, grade 5 (grand prize winner); Felipe Abreu, grade 4
— New Beginnings Education Center – Aidan Cooper, grade 4
— St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School – Sarah Wolff, grade 4
— Thacker Avenue Elementary for International Studies – Samarah Sobredo, grade 3
— Ventura Elementary – Kevin Guerra, grade 5
KUA’s annual calendar project has received 52 local, state and national public relations and design awards since its inception in 1995.
