KISSIMMEE, Fla., November 24, 2008 – Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) today announced the winners of its 15th annual student calendar art contest.
Open to Osceola County students in kindergarten through fifth grade, the contest is designed to promote electrical safety.
This year, a total of 677 entries were received from 20 Osceola County elementary schools, including public, private and charter schools. KUA also received entries from nearly three dozen homeschooled students.
A panel of judges selected twelve entries – one for each calendar month – that will be featured in KUA’s 2009 Calendar of Electrical Safety. The printed calendars will be distributed free of charge in late December.
The winners are:
— Chestnut Elementary School – Wilder Crespo, grade 4
— City of Life Christian Academy – Chloe Habibzadegan, grade 3; Isabella Pinero, grade 1
— Heritage Christian School – Jeremiah-Luke Gonzales, grade 5
— Kissimmee Charter Academy – Kevin Cruz, grade 3; Victoria Quezada, grade 3
— Kissimmee Elementary School – Kevin Chiang, kindergarten; Jailene Cuevas, grade 5; Michael Figueroa, grade 3; Maria Vázquez, grade 5
— P. M. Wells Charter Academy – Javier Martinez, grade 4
— Homeschooled – Katie Allen, grade 3
Each student who submitted artwork will be honored with a letter of appreciation and an opportunity to win four 2-day/2-park tickets to Universal Studios Florida. The twelve winners each receive $100 cash.
