
KISSIMMEE, Fla., January 2,
11:00 am – In an ongoing effort to increase public awareness of energy conservation, the
Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) recently sponsored a county-wide art contest for third,
fourth and fifth grade students. The winning entries appear in KUA’s full-color 2004
Calendar of Energy Conservation. The calendars are available free of charge to the general
public.
The winning entries are also available for viewing online at www.kua.com .
A total of 575 entries were received from 23 Osceola County elementary schools, including
public, private and charter schools. The winners were:
— Central Avenue Elementary – Destiny Daniels, grade 3
— Cypress Elementary – Atar Hajali, grade 5; Loysha Aviles, grade 5
— First United Methodist School – Austin Garcia, grade 3; Tyler Matthews, grade 3
— Life Academy – Lynnette Olivo, grade 4
— Mill Creek Elementary – Katherine Moya, grade 3
— Pleasant Hill Elementary – Brett Biller, grade 4; Noelia Guzman, grade 5
— Ross E. Jeffries Elementary – Amanda Robinson, grade 5
— Thacker Avenue Elementary – Arion Batson, grade 4
— Trinity Lutheran School – Matthew Somers, grade 5
The calendars are available free of charge and while supplies last at KUA’s Customer Service
Center, located at 1701 W. Carroll Street in Kissimmee.
KUA’s annual calendar project has received 32 local, state, national and international
public relations and design awards since its inception in 1994.
