KISSIMMEE, Fla., May 15, 1:30 pm – Each day since May 1, approximately 1,600 utility customers have visited the recently enhanced website of the Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) as part of an online contest to promote its new, interactive features. That brings total site visitors in May to 24,184.
The purpose of the contest is to encourage customer use of the utility’s website, www.kua.com . The website now allows customers to pay their bills online, update account information, check their energy consumption history, report a streetlight outage, calculate their monthly energy consumption, schedule a free home energy audit, check current job openings, or apply for a job.
“The response to our website campaign has been fantastic,” said Chris Gent, KUA’s manager of corporate communications. “Our web traffic reports show that visitors are making their way to all areas of the website… well beyond the contest page.”
Among the most frequently accessed portions of the website are enrollment in KUA’s electronic bill payment program, the online version of the FY 2001 annual report, and KUA’s online job application.
Ten lucky residential customers will have their current utility bill paid in full by the utility just for visiting the website. An animated banner on the website’s homepage directs visitors to the contest page where customers can simply type in their KUA account number to determine if they are a contest winner. Free computers have also been set up in the lobby of KUA’s Carroll Street facility for customers without an Internet connection who wish to access the contest page.
KUA is Florida’s 6th largest community-owned utility serving 58,000 electric, water and Internet customers in three Central Florida counties. KUA celebrated its 100th year of serving the community in 2001.
