KISSIMMEE, Fla., December 9, 2015 – Meter reader Allan Neymour has been named Kissimmee Utility Authority’s 2015 employee of the year.
Neymour was chosen from this year’s 12 employees of the month. With this honor comes a plaque, $200 cash, two days off with pay and a reserved parking space.
Neymour was recognized for his integrity and professionalism after coming to the aid of a Kissimmee resident in December 2014 while delivering meals on his Meals on Wheels route. Neymour is part of a team of KUA employees who voluntarily deliver meals each weekday to homebound seniors in Osceola County. When the recipient did not answer her door to receive her meal, Allan immediately contacted the recipient’s caregiver and waited at the home until they arrived. Once inside the home, they discovered that the resident had fallen a day earlier and was unable to get up.
“Allan could have easily moved on to the next house on his route, but went the extra mile to contact the caregiver and remain at the home to make sure everything was okay,” said Neymour’s division manager Lowell Knollinger. “Service before self is the essence of what it means to be in public service, and actions like this underscore the value of employees like Allan.”
Born and raised in the Bahamas, Neymour began his career at the utility in 2007.
Founded in 1901, KUA (www.kua.com) is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility powering 69,000 customers in Osceola County, Florida.
