City Commission Confirms Gant to KUA Board

KISSIMMEE, Fla., May 25, 2011 – The Kissimmee City Commission on Tuesday confirmed the appointment of Dr. George Gant to a five-year term on the Kissimmee Utility Authority board of directors, effective October 1.

Gant is currently serving a partial term on the board left open by the death in 2008 of director William C. “Bill” Hart. That term expires on Sept. 30 of this year.

Gant is former mayor of Kissimmee and retired medical director of the Osceola County Health Department. He holds a doctor of medicine degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine, and is a 51-year resident of Kissimmee.

Gant will be sworn in at the utility board’s October meeting and serve until September 30, 2016.

Founded in 1901, KUA ( is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric and telecommunication services to 64,000 customers in Osceola County, Fla.
