KISSIMMEE, Fla., February 1, 2013 – Kissimmee Utility Authority today named Eric Headlee its 2012 meter reader of the year.
Headlee was chosen from among the utility’s 18 full- and part-time meter readers for meter reading volume and accuracy as well as his attendance, dependability, leadership and time management during the past year.
Headlee read 113,733 electric, water and irrigation meters in 2012 with an accuracy rate of 99.97 percent. He also had perfect attendance for the year.
Meter reader Angel Quiles was named runner-up for reading 111,348 meters with an accuracy rate of 99.96 percent.
“In a typical year, a KUA meter reader walks nearly 2,000 miles in all weather conditions,” said Susan Postans, KUA’s vice president of customer service. “They frequently encounter dogs, snakes, spiders, bee hives and other potential hazards along their routes, which makes their reading accuracy that much more remarkable.”
KUA’s meter readers ended 2012 with nearly two million total meter reads with an accuracy rate of 99.96 percent.
Founded in 1901, KUA (www.kua.com) is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility powering 64,000 customers in Osceola County, Fla.
