KISSIMMEE, Fla., May 16, 2007 – At a meeting of the Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) board of directors held Wednesday, the board interviewed four applicants and selected Reginald L. Hardee to serve a five-year term on the utility’s governing board.
Hardee’s name will go before the Kissimmee City Commission on May 29 for final confirmation. If confirmed, he will be sworn in at the board’s October meeting and serve until September 30, 2012.
Hardee is an information technology district manager for the state of Florida. He attended the University of Florida and is a 10-year resident of Osceola County. Hardee is active in Kissimmee Masonic Lodge #68 and the Bethel AME Church.
The utility’s board of directors sets policy direction for the utility. Specifically, the board approves annual budgets, sets rates and approves major purchases. The board also directs a general manager who is responsible for day-to-day operations of the utility.
Founded in 1901, KUA (www.kua.com) is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric and telecommunication services to 170,000 residents in five Central Florida counties.
