KISSIMMEE, Fla., August 4, 2009 – Hundreds of Osceola County residents filled the Kissimmee Civic Center on Saturday for the 2009 Osceola Hurricane Preparedness Expo, hosted by the Kissimmee Utility Authority.
Residents who attended the expo learned ways to protect their home and loved ones from a potential disaster. The expo also featured presentations from emergency responders on power restoration, generator safety, tree trimming, debris collection, and county and city disaster response.
Exhibitors included KUA, Osceola County Emergency Management, Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, Osceola County Health Department, City of Kissimmee, Kissimmee Fire Department, Toho Water Authority, Osceola Council on Aging, University of Florida’s IFAS Osceola County Extension, South Florida Water Management District, American Red Cross as well as local businesses, including Ace Electrical Service, Embarq, Chappel Family Practice, Lowe’s, ProTech Coating Services and Safety First Homes.
