KISSIMMEE, Fla., September 28, 6:00 p.m. – As of 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) has restored power to 99.2 percent of its customers affected by Hurricane Jeanne. 486 customers remain without power. At the peak of the storm at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, 34,000 customers – or 59 percent of the utility’s 58,000 customers – were without electricity.
KUA expects to have service restored to most of the remaining customers by midnight tonight. Rising flood waters throughout the region, however, are threatening electrical facilities in many locations and could result in loss of service.
Customers who are still without power should call the utility’s 24-hour outage line at 407-933-7777.
Founded in 1901, KUA (www.kua.com) is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric service to 58,000 customers in Osceola County.
