KISSIMMEE, Fla., January 6, 2015 – Kissimmee Utility Authority today named Kelly Willetts its 2014 meter reader of the year.
Willetts was chosen from among the utility’s full- and part-time meter readers for meter reading volume and accuracy as well as her attendance, dependability, leadership and time management during the past year. She is the second female in the utility’s 113-year history to win the award.
Willetts read 126,417 electric, water and irrigation meters in 2014 with an accuracy rate of 99.98 percent and only seven reading errors for the year. She also received an award for the most meters read in 2014.
Meter reader Cory Glee was named runner-up for reading 120,573 meters with an accuracy rate of 99.97 percent.
“In a typical year, a KUA meter reader walks nearly 2,000 miles in all weather conditions,” said Susan Postans, KUA’s vice president of customer service. “They frequently encounter dogs, snakes, spiders, bee hives and other potential hazards along their routes, which makes their reading accuracy and speed that much more remarkable.”
KUA’s meter readers ended 2014 with more than 1.6 million meter reads with an accuracy rate of 99.97 percent.
Founded in 1901, KUA (www.kua.com) is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility powering 67,000 customers in Osceola County, Fla.
