Kissimmee City Commission Confirms Gemskie to KUA Board

KISSIMMEE, Fla., June 15, 9:30 a.m. – The Kissimmee City Commission on Tuesday voted 3-0 to confirm the appointment of Nancy F. Gemskie to a second term on the Kissimmee Utility Authority board of directors, effective October 1.

Gemskie is a retired insurance executive and a Kissimmee resident since 1995. She currently serves as chairman of KUA’s five-member board of directors.

The utility’s board of directors sets policy direction for the utility. Specifically, the board approves annual budgets, sets rates and approves major purchases. The board also directs a general manager who is responsible for day-to-day operations of the utility.

Gemskie will be sworn in at the board’s October meeting and serve until September 30, 2010.

Founded in 1901, KUA ( is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric, water and telecommunication services to 170,000 residents in five Central Florida counties.
