KISSIMMEE, Fla., January 9, 2008 – A new and unique partnership between Kissimmee Utility Authority and EMBARQ aims to provide a one-stop customer service experience for residents of Osceola County.
Under the terms of the partnership, KUA has opened an EMBARQ sales desk in its main lobby where customers can sign up for local and long distance telephone, high-speed Internet and satellite TV services. The desk is staffed by bilingual representatives during regular utility business hours.
“This move simplifies the service initiation process and increases the level of service available to residents,” said KUA president and general manager Jim Welsh. “Now customers can initiate electric, water, sewer and telecommunications services, all at a single location. It will save customers gas, time and money.”
A grand opening ceremony was held Tuesday with KUA president and general manager Jim Welsh and Embarq regional director of external affairs Ken Shipley doing the ribbon-cutting honors.
Embarq Corporation (NYSE: EQ), headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas, offers a complete suite of common-sense communications services. The company has approximately 18,000 employees and operates in 18 states. EMBARQ is included in the S&P 500.
Founded in 1901, KUA (www.kua.com) is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric and telecommunication services to 170,000 residents in five Central Florida counties.
