KISSIMMEE, Fla., November 11, 10:00 am — It’s an annual challenge: Create a distinctive and successful annual report that informs and educates customers, community decision-makers, and members of the financial community. One measure of success is to consistently win top awards. The latest, KUA’s 2001 annual report, has received the top award in a national annual report contest conducted by the American Public Power Association (APPA).
KUA’s annual report, titled “Generation for the Generations,” earned the Award of Excellence among utilities with gross annual revenues of $100-$150 million. The report features a financial summary of 2001, a nine-chapter historical narrative on the utility’s 100 years of service, and a comprehensive historical timeline.
“As the utility grows, effective communication with customers, members of the media and the general public becomes increasingly important,” said Chris Gent, KUA’s manager of corporate communications. “Participating in this competitive forum fosters quality communication and ethical financial reporting throughout the industry.”
The award was presented to KUA on November 5th at APPA’s Customer Connections Conference in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
APPA, based in Washington, D.C., is the service organization for the nation’s more than 2,000 community-owned electric utilities that serve more than 40 million Americans. Its annual report contest is judged by a group of professionals with expertise in the fields of printing, marketing and public relations.
KUA’s annual report can be downloaded from the utility’s web site at www.kua.com/corporate/reports/2001_annual.pdf .
KUA is Florida’s 6th largest municipally-owned utility serving 58,000 electric, water and internet customers in three Central Florida counties.
