KUA Captures 4 Statewide Communication Awards

KISSIMMEE, Fla., November 8, 11:45 am – Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) received four (4) awards for its entries in the 2001 Crystal Awards – an annual competition sponsored by the Florida Government Communicators Association (FGCA). The awards were presented Wednesday evening in Fort Lauderdale.

Crystal Awards recognize the best of the best in public information and are based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content, public relations planning, and the ability to achieve overall excellence in communication. A total of 149 entries were received in 12 categories in this year’s competition. FGCA membership includes cities and counties throughout Florida and agencies of state and local government.

KUA received the following awards:

FIRST PLACE – category: crisis communications – revitalization of the historic Roy E. Hansel power plant

FIRST PLACE – category: annual/quarterly report – 2001 annual report, titled “connections”

SECOND PLACE – category: single-topic publication – KUA’s 2001 calendar of electrical safety

FIRST PLACE – category: video – KUA, City of Kissimmee, and Osceola District Schools jointly received a first place award for the Access Osceola promotional video

KUA has earned over 110 local, state and national communication awards for public relations programs, events and publications since 1995. KUA is Florida‘s 7th largest community-owned utility serving 53,000 electric, water and Internet customers in four Central Florida counties. KUA is celebrating its 100th year of serving the community in 2001.
