KISSIMMEE, Fla., April 15, 2:00 pm – Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) is a winner in the Communicator Awards 2002 print media competition. KUA received a Crystal Award of Excellence – the highest award presented – as well as three Awards of Distinction and one Honorable Mention.
The Communicator Awards is an international awards program that recognizes outstanding work in the communications field. Entries are judged by industry professionals who look for companies and individuals whose talent exceeds a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry. There were 3,660 entries received from throughout the United States and several foreign countries in this year’s competition.
The Crystal Award of Excellence honored KUA’s 2001 annual report/centennial history book. Awards of Distinction were presented to KUA for its printed invitation to the Roy E. Hansel Generating Station mural dedication, its team logo design for the 2001 Florida Lineman’s Competition, and its monthly employee newsletter, Power Line. KUA’s Good Neighbor Energy Fund “United We Stand” bill insert earned an Honorable Mention from the judges. The bill stuffer raised more than $36,000 to help KUA customers experiencing financial difficulty pay their KUA utility bills following the post-September 11 economic slowdown.
KUA has earned 115 local, state, national and international communication awards for public relations programs, events and publications since 1995. KUA is Florida’s 6th largest community-owned utility serving 58,000 electric, water and Internet customers in four Central Florida counties. KUA celebrated its 100th year of serving the community in 2001.
