KISSIMMEE, Fla., October 17, 2009 – Kissimmee Utility Authority will participate in an open house today to mark the 100th anniversary of the Kissimmee Fire Department
Scheduled from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Station 11 at 200 W. Dakin Avenue, today’s open house is free and open to the public. Citizens can tour the fire house, meet the firefighters and view a display of fire trucks, including a 1923 American LaFrance pumper. There will also be hands-on activities and safety demonstrations.
KUA will provide a bounce house and obstacle course, as well as free popcorn, sno-kones and patriotic cookie decorating.
KUA has a century-old tradition of partnership with the Kissimmee Fire Department. Utility crews are routinely called out with fire crews to disconnect electric service to burning structures to prevent accidental injury or electrocution to firefighters.
Founded in 1901, KUA (www.kua.com) is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric and telecommunication services to 62,000 customers in Osceola County, Fla.
