KISSIMMEE, Fla., May 30, 8:15 am – Henry Campbell of Kissimmee is $181.61 richer this morning, after visiting the website of Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) overnight and discovering that he doesn’t have to pay his utility bill this month. Campbell is one of ten lucky utility customers who will have their bill paid by the utility in May just for visiting its website.
Each day since May 1, approximately 1,600 utility customers have visited KUA’s website as part of an online contest to promote its new, interactive features. Total site visitors in May now exceeds 49,700.
The purpose of the contest is to encourage customer use of the utility’s website, www.kua.com . The website now allows customers to pay their bills online, update account information, check their energy consumption history, report a streetlight outage, calculate their monthly energy consumption, schedule a free home energy audit, check current job openings, or apply for a job.
An animated banner on the website’s homepage directs visitors to the contest page where customers can simply type in their KUA account number to determine if they are a contest winner. Free computers have also been set up in the lobby of KUA’s Carroll Street facility for customers without an Internet connection who wish to access the contest page.
Aric Stoots of Kissimmee became the contest’s first winner when he visited the utility’s website back on May 16.
KUA is Florida’s 6th largest community-owned utility serving 58,000 electric, water and Internet customers in three Central Florida counties. KUA celebrated its 100th year of serving the community in 2001.
