New Peak Marks Seventh Power Record for Utility Since July 4
KISSIMMEE, Fla., August 17, 6:00 p.m. – Strong customer demand for electricity on Wednesday pushed Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) to a new record for energy consumption.
The new system peak marked the second consecutive day of record consumption and the seventh power record to be established since July 4.
At 5:43 p.m. Wednesday, KUA recorded a system peak of 331.0 megawatts (MW), shattering the former mark of 326.1 MW set on Aug. 16. The recorded system temperature at the time of the peak was 95 degrees.
Founded in 1901, KUA (www.kua.com) is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric and telecommunication services to 170,000 residents in five Central Florida counties.
