KISSIMMEE, Fla., September 28, 10:00 a.m. – Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) continues its around-the-clock effort to restore power to all customers affected by Hurricane Jeanne. At the peak of the storm at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, 34,000 customers – or 59 percent of the utility’s 58,000 customers – were without electricity. At 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, crews had restored service to 33,000 of the customers impacted by the storm.
About 1,000 customers, or two percent, remain without power Tuesday.
KUA expects to have service restored to the remainder of its customers by midnight tonight. Rising flood waters throughout the region, however, are threatening electrical facilities in many locations and could result in loss of service.
Customers who are still without power should call the utility’s 24-hour outage line at 407-933-7777.
Founded in 1901, KUA (www.kua.com) is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric service to 58,000 customers in Osceola County.
