KISSIMMEE, Fla., August 2, 2013 – Kissimmee Utility Authority, Florida’s sixth largest municipally-owned utility, has been recognized for the thirteenth year by the Orlando Sentinel as one of its “Top 100 Companies for Working Families.” And for the first time, KUA joins an elite group of companies to finish in the Sentinel’s Top 25 on the list, placing 25th overall for companies with more than 250 employees.
Top 100 companies were formally recognized at an awards luncheon held today at the Loews Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando.
The list, compiled by the Orlando Sentinel, recognizes employers in the region that offer progressive and forward-thinking programs and benefits that make family a top priority.
The Orlando Sentinel considers a number of areas to determine its annual rankings, including core benefits, family-related benefits, work environment, communication and training offered to full- and part-time employees. An independent panel of judges, comprised of local human resources experts, determined the Top 100 by measuring the strength of each company’s family-related benefits against the quantity of those benefits.
“We’re honored to receive this recognition as an employer of choice for working families,” said Wilbur Hill, KUA’s vice president of human resources. “To be distinguished as a Top 25 company this year is a wonderful endorsement of the culture we have worked hard to create, nurture and maintain.”
Founded in 1901, KUA (https://kua.com) is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility powering 64,000 customers in Osceola County, Fla.
