KISSIMMEE, Fla., August 6, 2010 – For the tenth time, Kissimmee Utility Authority has been named one of the family-friendliest companies in Central Florida as one of the Orlando Sentinel’s Top 100 Companies for Working Families.
The winners, announced today at a luncheon held at the Loews Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando, are innovative companies that offer progressive and forward-thinking programs that make family a top priority.
“Economic hard times mean family-friendly companies matter more than ever,” said Wilbur Hill, KUA’s vice president of human resources. “We’ve worked hard to create programs, policies and benefits that support our employees and enable them to meet both their personal and professional goals.”
The Orlando Sentinel, which compiles and publishes the annual Top 100 list, considers a number of areas to determine its annual rankings, including core benefits, family-related benefits, work environment, communication and training. An independent panel of judges, comprised of local human resources experts, determined the Top 100 by measuring the strength of each company’s family-related benefits against the quantity of those benefits.
Founded in 1901, Kissimmee Utility Authority (www.kua.com) is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric and telecommunication services to 62,000 customers in Osceola County.
