KISSIMMEE, Fla., March 25, 2008 – Using a customer vehicle for the “ribbon-slicing” ceremony, Kissimmee Utility Authority on Tuesday opened a new parking lot at its Carroll Street facility to help keep pace with its growing number of customers.
The new lot has 190 parking places and offers quick access to the utility’s customer service center. The lot is accessible from the Carroll Street main entrance.
As part of the opening, traffic flow at the Carroll Street facility has changed. All customers are now required to make a right hand turn upon reaching the three-way stop in front of the building. Handicapped parking is still available near the entrance to the building.
The utility spent nearly $800,000 for the parking lot addition.
Founded in 1901, KUA (www.kua.com) is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric and telecommunication services to 170,000 residents in five Central Florida counties.
