KUA Receives National Public Power Award

KISSIMMEE, Fla., June 21, 2016 – Kissimmee Utility Authority on June 14 received the American Public Power Association’s E.F. Scattergood System Achievement Award at the association’s national conference in Phoenix, Arizona.

The award, the highest given to a municipal utility in the electric industry, honors APPA member systems that have enhanced the prestige of public power utilities through sustained achievement and customer service.

KUA was recognized for excellence in several key areas of utility operation, including customer service, reliability, safety, training, system improvement, environmental stewardship, community outreach and employee development.

Initiated in 1959, the award is a tribute to E.F. Scattergood of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power who played an important part in the association’s formation, and served as president in 1947.
