KISSIMMEE, Fla., August 24, 12:15 p.m. – As Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) continued its eleventh day of rebuilding and restoration, the utility reported at noon on Tuesday that 4,800 customers remain without power as a result of Hurricane Charley. As Central Florida’s hardest hit utility, KUA has successfully restored electric service to 53,200 customers capable of receiving power, or approximately 92 percent.
To aid those customers still without electric service, utility employees on Monday distributed 32,000 bottles of water and 3,100 bags of ice. Distribution will continue on Tuesday.
Founded in 1901, KUA (www.kua.com) is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric service to 58,000 customers in Osceola County.
