KISSIMMEE, Fla., November 3, 12:30 p.m. – Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) invites students to use the power of art to promote energy conservation in the utility’s 11th annual calendar art contest.
The contest is open to third, fourth and fifth grade Osceola County students and is designed to encourage the conservation of electricity at home and in the workplace.
A panel of local judges will select twelve entries – one for each calendar month – that will be featured in KUA’s 2006 Calendar of Energy Conservation.
Every student who submits an entry will be honored with a letter of appreciation, a small prize and a copy of the full-color calendar. The twelve winners will have their artwork featured in the 2006 calendar and receive a $75 cash prize. The calendars will be distributed free of charge, beginning in December.
Official entry forms are available on the utility’s Web site at www.kua.com/calendar.
The deadline for entries is 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30.
Founded in 1901, KUA (www.kua.com) is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric and telecommunication services to 170,000 residents in five Central Florida counties.
